Head , the Music Guards of The Austrian Armed Forces


Bernhard Heher was born on December 29, 1962 in Puchberg, Schneeberg (Lower Austria). He learned to play the clarinet from his grandfather as a child.
During his school days he took music lessons at the music school in Puchberg and as an extraordinary student at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Prof. Hayek.
He began studying music at the Vienna Conservatory in 1984 and passed the state teaching examination in the subject of instrumental pedagogy and the diploma examination in the major clarinet with very good results in 1990. He completed his conducting training with Prof. Franz Bauer-Theussl.
In 1992, Heher began training as a military bandmaster, and he completed his military bandmaster examination in 1995.
In June 1996, Heher was promoted to lieutenant. Since October 1997 he has been the second Kapellmeister of the Guard Music and assigned to the teaching group as a teaching officer. .
Mag. Bernhard Heher was promoted to major on July 1, 2001.
On July 1, 2011, Mag Bernhard Heher was promoted to colonel.
Since December 1st, 2002, Major Bernhard Heher has been the head of the Music Guards of The Austrian Armed Forces.
