The Online Events

(June 13th– 27th, 2021)


A series of online events will give opportunities for orchestras and ensembles to participate, e.g. the cloud opening ceremony, the peace concerts on cloud, the online competition and the exhibition of the video clips, the prize award ceremony etc. All these will happen online in June 2021.

2.Workshops:

To support the development of the orchestras, the world renown music experts will give a series of workshops and expertise (in form of video recordings). These workshops (video lessons) can be watched, free of charge, on the websit of the festival.



3. Celebration:

All orchestras are welcome to join in the “Celebration” (non-competitive) category of the festival! During the online events, video clips of the orchestras will be shown to the audience. The concerts on cloud provide the excellent chance to show your artistic achievement and the culture of your nation to the world.



4. Competition:

Even competition is not the ultimate goal of the festival, but to encourage further development of the orchestras and ensembles and their members, the festival provides an open and fair chance for orchestras and ensembles to participate in the competition. The jury consists of world well-known conductors and experts. Orchestras and ensembles participating in the Competition should follow the rules and conditions described below:


1)     The Competition Categories:

According to the types of the orchestra and ages of its members, there are following competition categories:

Notice:

- Other Ensembles mean: ensemble consisting of the same instrument, e.g. Violin, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Chinese Erhu, Ocarina, Marching Band, Percussion, Jazz band etc.;

- Orchestras/Ensembles must meet the age requirements. Max. 10% of the members of each group are allowed to exceed the age limit.


2)   Repertoire Requirements:

i.  Each orchestra/ensemble can choose 1-2 pieces of their own. The total duration of the performance should be less than 10 minutes.

ii. Information about the music works (title, length, music scores, name of composer, copyrights owner, etc.) must be sent to the Festival Organizer in advance.

iii.  For published music scores, genuine scores or authorized scores should be used. Unauthorized copies or transcriptions should not be used. Please pay attention to the protection of copyright for the performed works, and the responsibility of legal disputes arising from this shall be borne by the orchestra/ensemble.

iv.  The electronic version of the music score should be provided.

v.   After the repertoire submitted by each orchestra/ensemble has been approved and confirmed by the Organizing Committee, no changes to the repertoire will be allowed without the permission of the Committee. Changes without the permission of the Organizing Committee may cause the cancellation of the results.


3)   Video requirements:

i.  The video clips for the competition categories have to be recorded after January 1st, 2019.
ii. The video clips must be owned by the orchestra/ensemble itself which therefore holds the rights, recorded without any audio post-production.
iii.  Please attach a high-definition electronic version of the music score when sending the video.
iv. The content of the performance must be positive, healthy and not involve sensitive topics such as politics.
v. The video clips are required in MP4/RMVB with a resolution of 720p and above. The aspect ratio shall be 16:9. The total size shall be less than 2G. Please do not add watermarks, subtitles, etc. to the video clips.
vi. The video clip should be in a running-through sequence, without any interruption or break during the performance from the beginning to the end. The conductor must appear in the video clips.


4)     The jury:

The members of the jury consist of world well-known conductors and experts. The decision of the jury shall be deemed final


5)     Evaluation of the achievement:

The jury will use a 100 points system and judge according to following rules;

6)     Awards:

Ø  Orchestra Awards:

In each category, the prizes of Gold, Silver, Bronze and Recognition will be awarded.

Ø  Individual Awards:

Outstanding Conductor Award:

The experts of the jury will select ONE outstanding conductor from the orchestra/ensembles that won the Gold Award and will award the honorary certificate to the conductor. The conductor will be qualified as a jury member of the next World Orchestra Festival and will be invited to Vienna to participate at the next festival activities.

Excellent Conductor Award:

The experts of the jury will select some excellent conductors from the orchestras/ensembles that won the gold and silver awards, and will issue honorary certificates to them.

Outstanding Team Award:

The organizing committee will select orchestra/ensembles with excellent performance/organization discipline and will issue honorary certificates to them.

Ø  Special awards:

Special awards in relation to special outstanding performance and quality of the orchestras and its conductor etc. could be awarded, based on the decision of the artistic committee.


7)     Prize for the Competition:

The orchestra winning the first place in each category will be awarded with Eur 500.--.


8)     Intellectual Property Rights:

Orchestras/Ensembles must own the audio, video and photographic rights which are provided to the festival. The Festival Organizer can use these materials free of charge for promotional purpose. Orchestras/Ensembles and their members agree that the Festival Organizer has the rights to publish their name, image, and recording etc. for promotion and publicity.


9)     Deadline for application:

For participating at the competition: May 31st, 2021


10)  Application procedure:

In order to be considered for participation in the festival, orchestras and ensembles are required to submit an application including the following:

i. The application form, completed in its entirety;

ii.  A short biography of the orchestra/ensemble, including the orchestra/ensemble’s history and other items of interest;

iii.  A color photo of the orchestra/ensemble;

iv.  A color photo of the conductor;

v. The Curriculum Vitae or brief resume of the conductor;

vi.  The Video clips for participation at the competition;

Application materials have to be sent to:  info@orchestra-festival.organdreas@orchestra-festival.org, or selena@orchestra-festival.org The video clips have to be sent via www.wetransfer.com or via similar software;

After receiving all required documents, the Festival Committee will evaluate and send the decision to the orchestra/ensemble accordingly.


11)  Entry Fee:

Eur 300.-- for the orchestra/ensemble, Eur 15.-- for each member;

Free of charge for conductor;

Note: paid to the appointed bank account, all banking charges shall be borne by the orchestra.


12)  Others:

i.    All application materials will not be returned.

ii.    The Festival Organizer reserves the right to refuse any entry. 

iii.   The Festival Organizer reserves the right to alter the timetable and activities according to the number of orchestras/ensembles participating at the festival.

iv.    All decisions made by the Festival Organizer shall be deemed final.

v.     No musical work shall be performed without the license of the copyright owner, and all such licenses shall be obtained by the orchestra/ensemble itself. The orchestra/ensemble shall indemnify the Festival Organizer against any infringement of copyright that may occur.

vi.     Participation in the Festival implies acceptance of all the rules and regulations.
